COMMON FIELDS OF WORK & INDUSTRY WHERE MEDICAL REVIEW OFFICER SERVICES ARE INDISPENSABLE
There are certain industries, careers, and fields of work that naturally require workers & employees be clean and sober during their employment and/or day to day activities. Medical Review Officers (MROs) are a vital part of these most important jobs, and if employees need counseling our SAPs are here to assist.
DOT Trucking Transportation
This is understandably the biggest widely done drug screening medical review request at our firm. FMCSA has strict guidelines to keep our roadways safe as goods & services are moved about. Those who possess a CDL or want to have a commercial drivers license must get a drug test regularly through their employer or with a consortium.
EDUCATION
Our children are our most protected population as they should be. So it should come as no surprise - teachers, educators, staff, administrators, principles, superintendents, and those put in charge of educating our future leaders are held to a high-standard. Universities, elementary, middle school, high-school, private & public school systems, and school districts require their employees be tested prior to being hired to be around children.
OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE OFFICES
Some of our largest and longest standing clients are occupational medicine offices where they perform physicals, collect urine & hair samples, hearing tests & more before new employees are brought on. They also do regular drug test sample collections for many employers & various types of consortiums.
MARITIME & BOATING & CAPTAINS LICENSES
Similar to that of the DOT and getting a CDL to drive a truck. The United States Coast Guard is there to protect our wateways from accidents that may not only harm others, but also the environment. Our USCG has stringent requirements that require all crew, captains, maintenance and engineers be drug & alcohol free to work in the maritime industry.
AVIATION INDUSTRY
Those who are governed by the DOT's division of aviation wishing to work around planes and flying are subject to the rules and regulations of the FAA.
HEAVY CONSTRUCTION JOBS
The construction & heavy equipment industry is another obvious field of work that comes as no surprise would require regular drug testing to ensure job sites are safe by OSHA's standards.
MASS TRANSIT CAREERS
The mass transit and city transportation authorities fall under the guidance of FTA umbrella with the Dept of Transportation as well. Shipping & trucking are obvious but driving buses & subways are also a large part of an MRO's job.
HOSPITALS
it goes without saying for staff that work in a hospital around potentially compromised and vulnerable patients as well as controlled substances so new and existing staff, nurses, doctors, etc must be drug & alcohol free while at the workplace. Our office serves as the Medical Review Officers for numerous highly respected hospitals and healthcare systems, as well as occupational medicine companies around the U.S.
PUBLIC EMERGENCY (EMS)
We service many fire departments, police, EMS, paramedics, fire departments which are all crucial to our safety and protection. Medical Review Officers ensure these vital fields of work are drug free.
SPORTS & ATHLETES
We all hope the sports we love to watch, and favorite athletes are clean. Most of all the regulatory bodies of the athletic industries require drug testing so medical reviews are part of what we do for them.
COURT - LEGAL CASES - LITIGATION
Courts cases live and die on expert testimony and verified proof from a professional, so medical review officers are used very often when cases involve the potential of drug use being a factor.
Tow Truck Companies
In addition to 18 wheeler drivers & Semis, tow truck drivers and their employers are also subject to the same DOT regulations for drug and alcohol testing.
Bus Companies
If you are a bus driver or bus company then you likely already know that the Federal Transit Admin of the Dept of Transportation is the regulatory branch for you.
Oil & Gas
The PHMSA is the Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration arm of the DOT, and they're responsible for overseeing those who work in industries that can harm not only people, but the environment.
